The Squealing Pig is a small, friendly, local bar on Commercial Street in Provincetown, Cape Cod. We visited on a Wednesday night for a beer and a few tasty snacks, and promptly found ourselves amongst it all in a pub quiz session with visitors and locals alike, drag queens, and even some children who’s Moms/Aunts found great amusement in photographing them posing with candy cigarettes and beer – something which seemed distinctly wrong!
We sat at the bar and service was very friendly, as were the people we sat next to at the bar. We had a great time debating quiz questions and answers with them all.
I’d yet to taste a bowl of fries I did not like in America. And covering them in parmesan, porcini and truffle oil couldn’t hurt either! Tasty, tasty!
The chicken quesadilla also hit the spot. Nicely toasted tortilla, filled with warm, comforting, cheesey, chickeny goodness inside.
Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the Wellfleet oysters as much as the other dishes, finding the ginger wasabi topping a little strange – I’m a shallot vinegar girl at heart. The quality of the oysters themselves were very good; creamy and mild. But again, I’m also a cheap date when it comes to oysters, preferring the taste of the cheaper, brinier variety than the creamy and sweet kind.
Despite not knowing many answers in the quiz, having very little knowledge of American sports, history or politics, we were pleasantly surprised to find we were coming in second place when we decided to call it quits for a night!
