While looking for a quick bite after my dentist appointment on Queensway I stumbled across Hung Tao. What caught my attention was the word “Congee” painted on their wall, instantly conjuring up images in my mind of hearty bowls of warm, comforting rice porridge. “Oooh… a nice, soothing meal for my poor teeth is what I need right now!” I thought to myself at the time and walked right in. Chinese New Year Dinner at Gold Mine

Happy Chinese New Year! It’s the year of the rabbit. Allow me to extend to you typical Chinese well wishes of health, happiness and wellbeing. May we all be showered with riches this year and become wealthy and properous. Hurrah!

Although I’m not a hardcore celebrant of this festival, I do like to acknowledge it on a annual basis (as I would any other other good festival) by stuffing my face!¬†And so with this purpose in mind 19 friends descended on Gold Mine in Bayswater on Tuesday evening.

Gold Mine is known for it’s fantastic roast duck and is often pitched against neighbouring fellow Chinese restaurant Four Seasons who also have a strong reputation for their roast duck.
