A journey to Brockley Market

10 Jun 2012

Anyone who has ever lived in London will know that no matter what you want to do, no matter where you want to go, sometimes London just really doesn’t seem to want to let you. One Saturday morning we decided we wanted to check out Brockley Market – a local south London market generating a lot of buzz recently for the quality of it’s traders.

London on the other hand did not really seem to want us to go. What followed was a frustrating 2 hour journey there consisting of getting on (and getting kicked out of) a variety of public transport options. We arrived grumpy, hungry, angry, “hangry” if you will. But soon our ailments were all forgotten as we went on a furious mission of purchasing delectable delights and stuffing our faces with them as quickly as we could possibly manage. (more…)

Friday night street food at Street Feast London

24 May 2012

Street Feast London is one of the latest street food initiatives – a culinary night market which is taking place every Friday night until 20 July at the Sclater Street Car Park just off Brick Lane. Featuring a number of street food superstars including the likes of Big Apple Hot Dogs, The Rib Man and Homeslice, it was definitely something that I wanted to check out since they kicked off a few weeks ago. Bagel Sandwich Heaven from The Breadman

UPDATED: 17/02/2011

One of my favourite weekday lunch options is The Breadman stall in Berwick Street Markets.  It’s a popular choice for me while picking up the bi-weekly fruit for the office from the neighbouring fruit stall.

On this occasion I decided to purchase 2 bagels and could sum up my experience of them with 2 simple words: “om” and “nom”!

Wellington Markets: Harbourside and City

16 Dec 2010

One of my favourite things about London are its amazing food markets.  Therefore I was very pleased to find a great little market scene emerging in my home town of Wellington.

The most popular of these is the Harbourside Market situated by the very scenic location of Waitangi Park.  Taking place every Sunday from 7.30am – 2pm (or 1pm in Winter), this is primarily a fresh produce market and a great place to stock up on cheap fruit and veg for the week.
