Bea’s of Bloomsbury Crawfish Boil – a feast not for the faint-hearted!

14 Jun 2012

What a pleasure it was to attend the Louisiana-style Crawfish Boil on Thursday evening hosted by the lovely Bea’s of Bloomsbury. Located at their Diner in a Maltby Street archway it was advertised as a proper Southern style party and a feast not for the faint-hearted – they were not kidding!

Just two of the MANY trays that arrived that night

We arrived to rows of communal tables laden with a variety of sauces, bibs and very necessary giant rolls of kitchen towel. Rubbish bags were attached at the ends of the tables. Things were going to get messy. This definitely looked like my kind of party! (more…)

Friday night street food at Street Feast London

24 May 2012

Street Feast London is one of the latest street food initiatives – a culinary night market which is taking place every Friday night until 20 July at the Sclater Street Car Park just off Brick Lane. Featuring a number of street food superstars including the likes of Big Apple Hot Dogs, The Rib Man and Homeslice, it was definitely something that I wanted to check out since they kicked off a few weeks ago. Pub quizzing it up with the locals at the Squealing Pig

3 Jun 2011

The Squealing Pig is a small, friendly, local bar on Commercial Street in Provincetown, Cape Cod. We visited on a Wednesday night for a beer and a few tasty snacks, and promptly found ourselves amongst it all in a pub quiz session with visitors and locals alike, drag queens, and even some children who’s Moms/Aunts found great amusement in photographing them posing with candy cigarettes and beer – something which seemed distinctly wrong!

We sat at the bar and service was very friendly, as were the people we sat next to at the bar. We had a great time debating quiz questions and answers with them all. (more…)

Partaking in P-town tradition at the Lobster Pot

1 Jun 2011

Every year, Bostonites, New Yorkers and other holidaymakers arrive in excited droves at the little seaside town of Provincetown, Cape Cod for their annual summer “vacay“. P-town (as it is referred to by locals and regulars) is a popular destination for its beaches, artists and status as a gay village. And one of the most popular restaurants to dine at is the Lobster Pot.

I’d read that this long running, seaside restaurant has worked it’s way into the hearts of many regulars who have come to view dining there as a tradition when they make their annual pilgrimage to P-town. (more…)
